2. Guarding the Dead Sea Scrolls
The Dead Sea Scrolls are travelling from their secure home at the Israel Antiquities Society to be displayed in public for the first time in a three month exhibition. Rarely have the scrolls been seen outside their safe haven and they are only now allowed to be shown at outside venues under the strictest security.
Written between 250BC and 68AD, the ancient documents consist of fragments of biblical scripts that have helped shape the cultural foundations of Western society.
A robust security system has been installed that has audit trail capabilities, securing nine perimeter and interior entry points. Registered users are enrolled using a bespoke software platform. The irregular configuration of the existing doors made the lock installation more challenging than a standard application.
